Introduction to Permaculture

A 2 hour in-person or virtually presented class intended for those who have heard about this design system but aren’t sure they are ready to commit to a full 72 hour Permaculture Design Certificate Program or not able to find one locally offered.

Details will be announced soon or you can book for your group by clicking below.

Local Sustainability Initiatives

This 1.5 hour class discusses what projects and organizations are doing in the Okanagan and Shuswap Regions to address climate change, food security and sustainability. Designed to get you inspired and engaged with land connections, community and taking positive action.

Composting 101

This 1.5 hour introductory class will educate you and your group to the basics of composting, common mistakes, a variety of systems and the importance of taking charge of your home organic waste as much as possible. This has been taught at elementary schools, high schools and to community groups.

Vermicomposting

Best taught in-person, this 90 minute class will educate you on the best practices of keeping worms for handling your organic waste. Vermicomposting is great for those who live alone or have a smaller space and not a huge amount of food scraps. You’ll learn what to put in, what to keep out, how to keep your worms happy and how to get a bin going at your place. Kids love this one!

Complete Vermicompost Starter Kits also available for purchase.

Knowledge Sharing & Community Building

Vernon Permaculture

A relaxed, welcoming, educational and fun evening at the Vernon Regional library on the last Wednesday of each month (7:00pm-9:00pm excluding December) where we share ideas, plans, concerns, plants and talk all things permaculture.

While Keli is currently the facilitator of this community group, we welcome guest speakers with specialized knowledge or experience with a wide variety of land-based topics. If you’d like to be a volunteer guest speaker, please reach out and let’s talk!
